...Flight!

Nest

It was so dreary!

Safe ground seemed terribly far away!

The little Condor fledging was coming of age, and it was time to leave the nest.

Papa condor

Many things crowded in his frightened mind. Old Papa was looking, and waiting.

Overcoming the drawbacks in his chest, the little bird opened his wings and, oh surprise! he was in...

...Flight!

The music is Cantata 140 "Chorale" by Bach giving frame and help to follow difficult tasks.

  1. Yay!!! It's always difficult to have your parents watch you do something for the first time.

    1. Hello Barbara!

      Welcome, to my site!

You are right! it is a nuisance being supervised, if we were not so young when these things happened, we would be able to learn, and cope with it, which in turn would make our future life easier. :)

      Thank you for your visit!

  3. It's not easy to leave the comfort zone but dare to try cos the natural ability is there. One needs confidence and there must be pride in elders for they have done their duties and there will be a legacy.

A very nice fiction, short and sweet and so meaningful. The five lines hold volumes.

Thank you, Od, for your creativity and the music is just as nice as your writing. :)

    1. You can tell me that, BB!

I have made of the action of leaving the comfort, a way of life!

No doubt, pride and recognition is our motto, human beings cannot live without it. If that motto comes from our elders then it is twice worthy!

Thank you, as always you follow my mixed thoughts unerringly and help me to interpret my own words!

Happy you liked the music, for a while I was fighting the odd part in me about how to go with this tale in music!

    1. Thank you, Jayne!

I have been watching condors for years.

The most impressive act these strange birds concoct, besides the first flight is when they jump from high mountain to the valley in big groups.

The noise and image you get from them filling the sky is unforgettable.

Thank you for your visit and for you warm words!

It was said that it is better for us to be like children, as I cannot reverse time, I just try to keep in touch as a writer! :)

      I appreciate your kindness!!

  7. There's a first time for everything, and you just have to move your nerves out of the way and take flight. The first experience is always the best. I'm sure it reminded Old Papa of his first moments too. I bet it brought a lump to the throat. Lovely post Od Liam. Short but directly to the point.

  8. Nice description of an emotional moment, RPD!

When those instant are in force, we feel so overwhelmed by the experience that there is not time to "enjoy" it.

Then, with time, and years on our head we remember with longing those few moments of coming of age!

    Thank you, RPD!!
